Responsible dog owners want the best for their furry companions, often taking extra steps to give them plenty of love and guidance. Pairing that attention, with routine exercise and trips to their local vet. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of their owners, some breeds are more prone to suffer from serious health issues. This is something everyone should consider before choosing to bring a dog into their lives.

9. GERMAN PINSCHER

The OG of pinscher breeds is high energy, high IQ, and relatively healthy in contrast to other breeds. German Pinschers often live between 12 to 14 years with proper love and care.

The Siberian Husky is an energetic breed with a natural disposition to family life. While Siberian Huskies are prone to some health issues, these incidences are low. Most huskies live between 12 to 14 years.

Border Collies are known for their intelligence and athleticism. These workaholic cuddle bugs are also a relatively healthy and hardy breed with most living between 12 to 15 years.

Australian Shepherds are the quintessential cowboy dog and often live healthy active lives for 12 to 15 years. Aussies also have a reputation for avoiding a list of bone, fur, and skin ailments that frequently affect other breeds.

4. CARDIGAN WELSH CORGI

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is the tailed cousin to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. While both breeds are relatively healthy when compared to others, we give the edge to the Cardigans. The Cardigan Welsh Corgi has a slightly longer life expectancy with most living between 12 to 15 years.

3. AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG

Australian Cattle Dogs, also lovingly known the world over as the Blue Heeler, typically live between 12 to 16 years. The Australian Cattle Dog has a history void of major health issues and they’re regarded for their loyalty and high IQ.

2. CHIHUAHUA

These tiny pups with over the top personality live around 14 to 16 years on average. Typically weighing around 6 pounds, Chihuahuas can certainly thank their role as the perfect “purse dog” for an assist in longevity.

1. BELGIAN MALINOIS

These extremely loyal companions get high praise for their work ethic.  Belgian Malinois live for around 14 to 16 years and aren’t typically associated with major health issues, probably due to their extremely selective breeding.
