As part of our Saving 3,000 Pets at Risk in 2025 campaign, Bear’s story is a powerful reminder that even the smallest dogs can have the biggest hearts. Rescued from unthinkable conditions, this little guy has proven just how resilient, loving, and deserving every pet is of a second chance.
Chained, Freezing, and Fighting to Survive
Before Bear ever made it to the shelter, his life was heartbreaking. This small dog—no bigger than a lapful—was forced to live outside, chained up and exposed to the elements. With his short coat offering little protection, Bear endured freezing nights in single-digit temperatures, shivering and fighting to survive. No dog deserves that, but especially not one as small and sweet as Bear.
Eventually, Bear landed at the Bell County shelter in Eastern Kentucky. Despite being overcrowded, the shelter workers fell in love with him. They saw past his timid exterior and fought to keep him safe, holding off on his euthanasia until help could arrive.
That help came in the form of Fields of Freedom—and Bear’s life changed forever.
A Quiet Soul Learning to Shine
When Bear arrived at his foster home, it was clear he carried the weight of his past. Shy and reserved, he took time to trust—but with the help of other dogs, his true personality began to peek through.
Bear found comfort in the company of his furry foster siblings, especially a sweet Yorkshire Terrier who helped him build confidence. Slowly but surely, Bear started to feel what safety—and love—really meant.
His foster mom shared one of the sweetest things about Bear: his love for toys. Carefully, one by one, Bear would collect his favorite toys and carry them into his crate—his safe space—nesting down among them like a little king surrounded by his treasures.
“One of my favorite things about Bear is how much he loves his toys,” she told us. “He’ll carefully bring toy after toy into his crate and nest into them. He loves his crate and loves to spend time in there snuggling with his favorite toys.”
A Happy Ending—Family, Friends, and Love
Bear’s journey didn’t stop there. After gaining confidence in foster care, Bear found his forever home in Ohio—complete with a furry family to call his own.
Now, Bear lives happily with his new brothers, Frankie the Chihuahua and Beans the Basset Hound. Together, they’re a perfect trio, with Bear finding his place right in the middle. Where once he was cold, scared, and alone, Bear now has warmth, love, and the comfort of knowing he’s finally safe.
The Bigger Picture
Bear’s story is a testament to the countless small, scared dogs waiting in shelters for someone to see their worth. In places like rural Kentucky, so many face the same fate Bear did—left outside, overlooked, or forgotten. But thanks to people like you, that’s changing.
At Cuddle Clones, every purchase you make helps fund our Saving 3,000 Pets at Risk in 2025 campaign, giving dogs like Bear the second chance they deserve. Together with Fields of Freedom, we’re rescuing pets who have endured far too much—and giving them the happy endings they’ve always deserved.
Because no pet should ever have to fight to survive.
