5 Dog-Friendly Things To Do This Fall

  • 3 min read

Fall is around the corner which means we’re getting in the festive fall mood here at Cuddle Clones. As the weather cools off and the days get shorter, it’s time to throw on a sweatshirt and make the most out of the fall season. Here are 5 dog-friendly things to do this fall.

Dog-Friendly Things To Do This Fall

HIKING

Hiking is an active experience for your entire family, and one of the best dog-friendly things to do this fall. Many national parks and public hiking trails openly welcome animals, but you should call ahead to confirm. Always pick up after your pet, who should be on a leash, and never let them interfere with local wildlife. You can keep your dog safe by strapping on a special hiking pack that allows you to change your handhold depending on the terrain. Talk to your pet’s veterinarian about the best flea and tick preventative and to see if they need a physical exam before you trek out into the unknown.

PICK OUT YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUME

Halloween costumes aren’t just for people, your pets can participate also! Picking out an adorable Halloween costume for your fur-baby can be so much fun and make for great photos to put on a Custom Pet Photo Blanket! If you don’t have a costume picked out yet, you can check out these pet-friendly Halloween costumes that are super cute! Just be sure to get the correct size for your pet. You should never put a costume on your pet that is too tight or doesn’t fit them correctly.

CAMPING

There are few better places to capture your pet in their element than out in the woods. Camping with your dog is a fun and exciting adventure that puts you both in close proximity to nature. And what better way to keep warm than sitting around a campfire with friends, family, and fur-babies?! There are a few precautions that you must take, however, to have a healthy and enjoyable outdoor experience. Fur And Tail Feathers explains that camping with your dog starts by making sure they are physically ready for the outdoors. You’ll also want to prepare by making sure the weather plans to cooperate and that you have all of the accessories. This includes a bed and all of the food and water your pet will need for the days ahead. Make sure to bring plenty of different treats – either vegan, grain-free, or organic-based on your lifestyle and their health needs – to encourage their best behavior.

CARVE PUMPKINS

Get your Halloween decorations ready by carving pumpkins outside with friends and family. You can even carve one for your pet as well! You can buy super cute pumpkin carving stencils that look like their dog breed. How good would these look on your front porch?

BE BEACH BUMS

If the weather is starting to cool off, buckle up and head somewhere warmer. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches along the East and West Coasts. And just like a day in the woods, a week at the beach is good for you and your pet. Also like camping, there are a few preparations that will ensure both of you have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Animal Planet suggests bringing along an extra blanket or towel so that your dog can get his paws off the hot sand.  You’ll also want to ensure they have plenty of shade and are up-to-date on all of their vaccines. Pay close attention to rules and regulations at your beach of choice. Your dog will likely be required to stay on a leash, you’ll have to clean up after them, and, perhaps most importantly, keep off the dunes as these are considered protected lands in most circumstances.

That concludes our list of 5 dog-friendly things to do this fall. Which one do you think you are going to do? We hope these ideas were helpful to you and we wish you a wonderful fall season!
