Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions | November 2021 Shelter Spotlight

Each month, we donate to 10 animal shelters nominated by you. One of the shelters we will be donating to is Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions. After reading their nomination email they sent to blog@cuddleclones.com, we were so happy we could help them out!

About Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions

Young at Heart's mission is to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion, and companionship in their golden years. In a perfect world, every senior pet would spend its twilight years surrounded by a loving family. But sadly, senior pets that end up in shelters often do not get that chance. Young at Heart™ believes that Love Has No Age Limit™.

Young At Heart™ is a 501c3 nonprofit rescue and safe haven for senior dogs & cats in Woodstock, IL founded in 2005. They are Northern Illinois' oldest rescue organization dedicated just to senior dogs and cats.

Young at Heart's cageless adoption center just for senior dogs and cats opened in Woodstock IL in September 2019. Young at Heart's mission is to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion, and companionship in their golden years. They find loving homes for adoptable senior pets and offer a peaceful sanctuary life for those that are less adoptable. With support from donations and community members, Young at Heart™ gives older dogs and cats another chance to enjoy the twilight of their lives through rescue, foster, adoption and sanctuary.

How the COVID-19 Pandemic Affected the Shelter

When the world shut down, Young at Heart staff was still needed to care for all the senior animals.  For safety reasons they were closed to volunteers and adopters. Having just opened a brand new facility in Woodstock, IL in September 2019, the fear was that they would have to close their doors.  However, thanks to hard working staff and incredible donors, Young at Heart was able to weather the storm through one of the most difficult years we will ever experience.

Because they are a cageless facility, adoptions are done by appointment only with an approved application for the safety and well-being of all of our senior pets. Buildings are not open to the public otherwise at this time.
