February Shelter Spotlight
Each month, we donate to 10 animal shelters nominated by you. One of the shelters this month is Red Door Animal Shelter in Chicago. After reading their nomination email they sent to blog@cuddleclones.com, we were so happy we could help them out!
ABOUT RED DOOR ANIMAL SHELTER
Red Door Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill shelter committed to helping animals in need. Their primary focus is on cats, dogs, and rabbits. They also rescue ducks and backyard chickens occasionally!
One of the things that makes Red Door Animal Shelter unique is their extensive rabbit rescue program. They remain one of the few no-kill multi-species rescues in the country that admits rabbits, spays/neuters them, microchips them, and adopts them out to forever homes. Their shelter is small in comparison with others, but we are always at our maximum capacity due to our efforts to save as many abandoned rabbits as possible. They have a small – but dedicated – staff. And they are funded almost entirely by donations from the public. They pride themselves in being known as “a little shelter with a big heart.”
HOW THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IMPACTED THE SHELTER
Due to the pandemic, Red Door Animal Shelter has had to cancel all of their major fundraising efforts. Events like bunny yoga, an easter egg hunt for dogs, a holiday bake sale, and “Spa Days” for rabbits offering grooming and cute photoshoots. Missing out on these events and the donations that came from them has put a burden on the shelter’s operations. They have been fortunate enough to receive continued support from their community through everything.
If you would like to help the Red Door Animal Shelter, you can make an individual donation to the shelter here.

Send an email to blog@cuddleclones.com and tell us more about them for a chance to be one of the 10 shelters selected for next month’s animal shelter donations. Thank you!
