Through our partnership with Fields of Freedom, we are rescuing pets from dire situations, providing them with the care they need to heal, and placing them in loving homes. Porter’s story is a heartbreaking yet inspiring example of why this mission is so important.
A Life of Neglect: Porter’s Painful Past
Porter spent his days and nights outside—rain or shine—with no shelter, no warmth, and no love. To his owners, he was little more than a lawn ornament, left to survive on his own.
A kind-hearted neighbor saw the suffering Porter endured and did everything she could to help. She visited him daily, slipping food through the fence and offering comfort, but it wasn’t enough to change his reality. To make things worse, Porter was also being abused by neighborhood kids, leaving him scared, dirty, and desperately in need of rescue.
Thankfully, Porter’s story didn’t end there.
Rescue and a New Beginning
When Fields of Freedom learned about Porter’s heartbreaking situation, they knew they had to step in. Kyle, the barn manager, went to his owner and was able to convince them to surrender Porter. At long last, Porter was free.
When he was picked up, Porter was filthy, malnourished, and unsure of what was happening. But despite everything he had been through, he was ready to love.
Porter’s personality quickly shone through—he is a happy-go-lucky, affectionate dog who never meets a stranger (except at the vet!). He adores cuddles, loves playing with children, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs.
A Foster Home Filled With Love
Porter is now thriving in his foster home in New York, where he is receiving the love and care he always deserved. With each day, he grows more confident, happier, and eager to find a forever family that will cherish him.
His transformation is proof that no matter how dark the past, love and kindness can rewrite the future.
